Does Infection In Gum Affects The ASD Closure Surgery In A Child?

Gm Dr my 3 n half yr daughter underwent ASD closure 1 year ago .her 2 d echo report now shows that she has leakage on left side of heart. Dr says it can t be cured. Also Dr suggested routine dental checkup as gum infection can fail her ASD closure surgery. Wat is connection between gum n heart?plz help me.

Hi,
Any systemic infection in the body can produce problem for ASD or any surgery as there are all chance of spreading infection at the site giving rise complication or failure of surgery.
So consult your dentist and rule out any infection or decayed tooth.
