Does Hysterectomy Or UTI Cause Blood Spot After Urinating?

I had a complete vaginal hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. Recovery has been good with minimal spotting. A week ago I got a UTI which I ve been taking an antibiotic for almost a week. I noticed a little stinging today & when I wipe after urinating there is a spot of bright red blood. Not sure if it s related to surgery or the UTI.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
This is quite simple to investigate.
Have a clean catch mid-stream urine DR test to see if it is normal or not. If it is negative for blood, naturally the source is your vagina. Report this to your doctor & have a local examination.
This is usually due to granulations forming at the stitch line & is not a big problem & can be dealt with, in OPD as a see & treat problem.
Wish you all the best.
Take care.
