Does High TSH Level Create Complications In Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant. Got my reports today and it says TSH is 7.31 which i believe is above the normal range. I have been asked to consult a doctor for thyroid. Want to know if this can create any major problem in pregancy or it is normal for a pregnant lady.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Yes this is indeed above the normal range of TSH and should be corrected. No it is not normal for a pregnant woman to have this level, and these levels can interfere with sexual hormone levels which usually are rrquired to support and achieve a healthy pregnancy. Please consult a specialist for the same.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
