Does Excessive Masturbation Cause Erectile Dysfunction?

Hello Doctor, Can I ask a question regarding sex? My penis is 4.3 inches when erect. After urinating a few(perhaps 2 or 3 or 4 ) drops leak from my penis, and so to prevent it from dirtying my clothes I started having a cloth like handkercheif inside the underwear since 3 years ago. Also I did not give proper attention regarding the cleanliness in the penis and closer regions. Sometimes I use to wash my underwear and remove the water by hands and then wear it again (not dry). I used to masturbate moving my penis downwards then back to normal and so on motion and then during orgasm I would do my penis downwards and press it using hand or pillow from above. Nearly 1.5 years ago I realised decrease in sex drive and decrease in erection hardness, Can any of the above stated info be the reason for it? Recently I started giving attention to cleanliness in the penis region and started eating fried ginger and garlic , and pomegranate juice before bed. And I have noticed a lot of improvement. I have been masturbating since 7 years ago and I am 23 years old(unmarried). Also my penis is bent nearly 15 degrees towards left (the penis is not curvy but straight).

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query.

No, it cant be caused by masturbation.
Erection problems can have many causes. These include:Physical problems, such as injury to nerves or loss ofblood supply to the penis . Other health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, anddepression.Side effects of certain medicines. Stress. Drinking too much alcohol or smoking. The exam, lab tests, and sometimes mental health tests can help find out the cause of the problem.
Tretament is based on cause and include avoiding tobacco and drugs and limiting alcohol.
Also, talking about the issue with your partner, doing sensual exercises, and getting counseling may be beneficial. Finding and then stopping medicines that may be causing the problem. In some cases you can take a different medicine that doesn't cause erection problems. Taking prescription medicine that can help you get erections. These include pills such as sildenafil (for example, Viagra), tadalafil (for example, Cialis). In most cases this is sufficient for treatment but you should just be patient and do necessary tests.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
