Does Echinacea Help In Boosting One S Immune System?

My 3 year old granddaughter is now attending daycare, and since she has started daycare, she has been sick on and off, like ever two-thee weeks. I hear that Echinacea is good to help the immune system and help keep down colds. In what form can I give this to her?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It's common for children upto 5 years to get recurrent viral infections generally on form of upper respiratory tract infections, which often heal without serious consequences. Echinacea use currently has no or insufficient scientific evidence. For children of this age group mainly teach hygiene such as hand hygiene and food hygiene. Teach to use handkerchief on mouth while sneezing or coughing. Avoid spitting openly in environment.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
