If you have a heart condition and are prone to dysrhythmias, drinking or eating anything hot or cold can be a fatal ordeal. The change in temperature overstimulates the electrical circuit of the heart and can throw someone into a fatal dysrhythmia--as fatal as V-fib--which in turn can cause a heart attack.
On the other hand, if you do not have arrhythmia problems no need to worry. This is an old wives tale and has yet to be proven true!

We are in France at the moment so as our French is very limited you may be able to help me. My husband who is 71 had been very busy all day doing maintenance work on our house. We had our meal in the evening and afterwards as we sat watching TV he suddenly started shaking uncontrollably. This went on for some time and then when it calmed down a bit he decided to go to bed. He then began sweating quite badly although he said he felt cold. He also asked me to get him one of his Lanzoprazole as he had a pain in his chest which he put down to indigestion. As he also has problems eating now he tends to choke his way through most meals could this all be connected. The next morning after quite a good nights sleep he said he felt more or less back to normal. He has had a couple of restful days and seems fine. We are back home the weekend when I will get him a doctors appointment but in the meantime wondered what your thoughts are.
Hi, My name is Yauka and I am from the Pacific Islands in the Pacific. I am in my early 50s and currently seperated from a very difficult young wife. I also drink lots of alcohol at times (but not every day or continously) and also lose lots of my pay through gambling! And my plan now is to prepare funds to send my first born daughter to university but finding enough money for that is a constant worry for me. Overall my relations with my separated wife is one of enduring frustration and anger.... This is generally a background of the environment I work/live in. And my problem? Yesterday evening at 9pm I felt mild pain on my left chest which lasted for a few seconds, and it gave me shortness of breah and also I found my legs were weak and felt a bit dizzy and unable to stand up.... so I had to sit down and put lots of cold water on my chest.... Issue: I suspected it might be the onset of a stroke! Or heart attack..... After an hour of resting, deep breathing and applying cold water on my body, I fel well enough to stand up and walk home. Issue: I have a 2 near or suspected heart attacks in 2012 and I was hospitalised and since then i have been OK. QUESTION: Doctor, do you think these symtoms I felt last night were symptoms of heart attack?? Thank you in advance for your urgent advice please! Kind regards, (signed) Yauka
the lusual email hoax about not drinking cold water because it may cause a heart attack has hit my inbox again. Can I have a primary source to refute this? My correspondents don t trust the usual public sources such as truthorfiction, snopes, etc. Thank you

Hi! My mother s family has a history of heart disease. My maternal grandfather died of a heart attack in his sixties. My maternal grandmother suffered a stroke and died in her early sixties. My mother is currently in her late 50 s and suffers high blood [pressure from time to time. She is on daily medication for her B.P. A few days ago she got continuiing chest pains and went to the doctor. They told her that her arteries are fine but since she has had hypertension sometimes, this has resulted in the weakening of something (aorta?) How serious is this? is it curable? is it a guarantee that she too will suffer an early heart attack like her parents? Is there a way to beat genetics? Thank you.
when ever I run a push vaccum cleaner or a push mower I get real light headed and end up with a headache and feel very shakey. In a sense I feel like I am walking around very light headed like I can pass out. I use to be extremely overweight but around 162 now but when I was at 280 this would happen during most strenuouis task, it only happens now when I do these two things. I use to get heart skips or flutters alot but rarely now. My father died of heart blockage and my mom has blood pressure issues and has had 2 heart attacks. Could this be related?
