Does Dizziness While On Topiramate Subside On Its Own?

ive been taking topiramate 25 mg for 1 week. yesterday i had a very strong dizzy spell and felt i would pass out. it happened before i took my second dose. yesterday was my fist day for a second dose. Today I took my morning dose at 9:00 AM and had another episode where I thought I was going to pass out around 12:30 and had to rest for about an hour. Is this something that will just go away after using for awhile or should I stop taking the med? Im now at 50 mgs per day and day 9 of treatment. Im being for weight loss

Hi,

Topiramate can cause dizziness. Standard advise is to initiate therapy at 25 to 50 mg/day and titrate to an effective dose in increments of 25 to 50 mg/wk. Avoid alcohol and driving. Stopping medication too quickly may precipitate seizures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
