Does Cut Skin In Finger With Pricking Sensation Indicate STD?
Hi I visited a red light district with my friends. I had refused an offer as I wasn t interested and the guy was pulling my shoulder. That s the only contact I had with another human. Went there just to check out! After a few minutes, I found a small cut and feels like a pin prick on my finger somewhere in the middle of the cut!! There s no blood but just a reddish blood like in the finger. The cut is just about 3-4mm in length. Don t know if this was an attack. After 5 hours or so, I m still feeling the slight pain. It s all gone now except for the cut skin that wasn t deep. The red dot in the middle of the cut must have been like 1-2mm deep. I m worried!!
Any prick in the finger would have pain for few hours at least. Nothing to worry. STD/HIV through pin prick is rare as these organisms are highly fragile and they can not live outside the body or body fluids not more than few seconds. They can not withstand dryness and outer environmental conditions. But a purposeful prick may be infectious. The only way to rule out is to eliminate this possibility with laboratory tests for Syphilis/HIV/Hepatitis. Dr S.Murugan
