Does Consumption Of Ginette 35 Over Time Effectively Prevent Pregnancy?

Ive been on Ginette 35 for about 4 years now due to prolonged menstruation and it has worked perfectly thus far. I have not had any complications but I want to know if its dangerous to be on it for so many years and if I should change it? Also, if it does effectively prevent pregnancy?

Ginette 35 tablets contain a combination of ethinyloestradiol, a synthetic oestrogen and cyproterone acetate, an antiandrogen. It work together to reverse the effects of too much androgen, like acne and hirsutism, while also acting as a contraceptive.
Health risks involved with the use of Ginette 35 on a long term include:
1. increased risk of thrombosis (blood clots)
2. increased risk of breast cancer
Hence, it would be advisable to use Ginette 35 tablets for a few more months and after the acne has disappeared, you should then change to another oral contraceptive.
Kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard for appropriate advise and management as per your needs.
