Does Cipralex Cause Sinus Pain, Pain In Eyes, Tooth And Gum With Frequent Headaches?

i have been taking Ciplralex for about 3 years...20mg this past year. Recently I've experienced severe sinus pain on my right side that I thought was a sinus infection...it lasted 10 days. Then came tooth and gum pain that had me thinking I had busted a crown. After 10 days of that, the sinus pain came back, on the left side this time.. then a few days ago, I blew my nose and a stabbing pain in my right eye brought me to tears. I now have a twitch under my left eye that comes and goes every hour or so. My on and off headache over the past couple of years that I thought was a tension headache has gotten severe and almost constant.....should I get off ciralex? Or could the symptoms be another problem?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
It seems that you are suffering from Subacute Nasal Sinusitis.
It could not be due to Escitalopram.
All the symptoms are typically indicating the sinus infection.
1. Headache
2. Dental pain
3. Pain around the eye.
There are many causes for sinusitis.
1. Nasal mucous membrane swelling as from a common cold
2. Blockage of drainage ducts
3. Structural differences that narrow the drainage ducts
4. Nasal polyps
5. Conditions that result in an increased risk of infection such as immune deficiencies or taking medications that suppress the immune system.
6. allergies by environmental factors.

Following examination you need the following investigations to identify the cause and diagnose the nasal sinusitis
1. X-Ray and CT Para nasal sinuses
2. Allergic testing with patch test
3. Nasal endoscopy
4. Complete blood count with Differential count to rule out any infection or eosinophilia.

Usually we prescribe nasal decongestants initially and steam inhalation from a pan of boiling water.
Nasal saline sprays and antihistamines like cetrizine also helpful.
If we suspect infection, then we prescribe antibiotics or antifungals depends on the cause.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
