Does Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Cause Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Hands?

I have pins and needles in my right hand and my arm also at times. Thumb, forefinger, middle finger & part of ring finger. It is not painful, just annoying because of numbness. My GP says I have carpal tunnel syndrome and should have it operated as steroid injection did not work. Do you agree it could be CT syndrome?

Hello,

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause paresthesia (pins and needles sensations)/numbness in hand and fingers (thumb, index finger, middle finger and medial side of the ring fingers-median nerve distribution) and it may even extend upwards to the arm; more distressing at night.

Physiotherapy can be tried before surgical treatments (release of the transverse carpal ligament). One should exclude Hypothyroidism (to check serum Free T3, FreeT4 and TSH, if not done already).
