Does Bruise And Red Mark On Nose Indicates Broken Nose?
my four year old fell had hit her nose on the coffee table. I put arnica on right away, but now 3 hours later, she has a bruise and red mark on her nose. I can get a little blood on a quip tip if I stick it a little ways in. She keeps sniffling. Does she have a broken nose?
Hi,your daughter is not suffering from a broken nose probably.
In case of a broken nose(that is fracture of nasal bones),there is swelling over the external nose region.Crepitus may be felt on touching the nose.Shape of the nose might change externally.
Slight bleeding might occur after injury over nose. That does not mean that she has a broken nose.
Still if you want to confirm,Xray both nasal bone(lateral view ) will confirm the diagnosis.
You can give her Nasal Decongestants for pediatrics(like otrivin-p nasal drops),Saline nasal drops and Analgesic(like syrup Ibugesic). Also, take precautions that nose should not get hurt .
Hope this answers your question.Take care.
