Does Breast Cancer Lead To Pain Around The Rib Cage?
I have pain on and under my rib cage on the right side. I can t sleep on that side because of the pain. It seems to follow the bottome of my ribs in to my back. The area is tender to touch. I had an xray of my ribs last week and that showed nothing. My Dr. wants me to have an ultra sound of the area on Friday. What would an ultra sound show? She said something it could be my gall bladder but I have no symptoms for that. I have had breast cancer twice the last time was 7 yrs. ago and went through chemo that time. I have had both breasts removed with implants put in.
hi madam. your symptoms are indicating towards a bony pathology. at this point it is very important to rule out metastasis or a second primary. so the investigations should be directed in a direction to find out the pathology/tumor. still i would like to say that the clinical examination is very important to arrive at a diagnosis or to advise a specific test. the pain can be referred also. in ur case as u said that there is bony tenderness, i would prefer an MRI scan with or without a sonography of abdomen. so if ur doc. is asking for ultrasound she is not wrong. after looking at the sono report she may order some new tests like CT or MRI scans or bone scan. discuss these points with her that will help u in gaining faith on her. feel free to discuss any further questions.
