I am 5 weeks 2 days pregnant hcg levels 2400 some bleeding everyday did another ultra sound 478 hrs later hcg 1800 ultra sound showed baby still high in uterus still intacked doc said he wants to do another one in ten days does this always mean miscarriage ?
Beta hCG levels up to 2400 with 5 weeks amenorrhoea definitely diagnose the pregnancy. However, you had some bleeding after which the hCG levels have started dropping. There is a good possibility that the baby is no more viable. If repeat values of hCG show declining trend, it definitely confirms the diagnosis of abortion.
The high position of baby does not rule out non-viable baby. After about a week, if still the hCG levels are declining and the baby's heart activities are not perceived in ultrasonography, then you should accept the diagnosis of missed or threatened abortion and proceed for termination of pregnancy without further delay to avoid complications like bleeding, infection, etc.
I hope this helps you.
