Does Alcohol Intake Lead To Swelling Of Parotid Glands?
I have swollen parotid glands . They are aggravated by alcohol. I have noticed Tea and Coffee can aggravate them as well. Alcohol Is maybe once a week usage. Coffee and Tea are used very rarely. I see where Gargling saline/salt hot water may help . Doing now. What is your opinion?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that swelling in parotid glands that aggravates with alcohol, tea and coffee can be due to allergic reaction to some common ingredients.. In case if the swelling occurs even after eating anything then it can be due to obstructed duct of the salivary gland.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray or MRI scan of salivary gland along with saliva culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. Treatment can be done according to the confirmed diagnosis.. As of now you should chew sugar free chewing gums and sck tart candies.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
