Does Abdominal Pain Warrant A Hospital Visit?

Hi, I am currently being monitored for a suspected ectopic pregnancy. I am currently at home but was told to go back if I get more abdominal pain. For an hour now I am getting side pain (which I have been getting on and off for a few days) but its quite high in my side - closer to my kidney. I also feel really bloated and constipated (although I had a bowl movement this morning) and feel like I have indigestion. I dont want to back to the hospital and waste peoples time if this is nothing. A shadow was seen in my left tube during an ultrasound yesterday. I am only 5 weeks and I had an ectopic in my right tube in 2008 and a successful pregnancy in 2010. Should I go to hospital now or wait until tomorrow when I am due to go anyway?

Hi, I have gone through your question. Pain in ectopic pregnancy increases when the fallopian tube ruptures or there is tubal abortion, which leads to blood collection in the abdomen. This is an emergency situation in which urgent laparotomy needs to be done to remove the affected fallopian tube surgically.
Abdominal distension is also common, and it may mimic bloating and indigestion.
I would suggest you to visit the hospital as soon as possible and get properly treated before any complication occurs.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma
