Does A Lipoma And A Ganglion Cyst Have Fairly Consistent Symptoms?

Today I went to a surgeon for removal of what was thought to be a Lipoma from the area right under my right collar bone. When the surgeon got in, he determined that it was NOT a lipoma, but instead- it was possibly a non benign ganglion cyst . He removed it as best he could and it is being biopsied this week. My question is three part? Are the symptoms of a lipoma and a ganglion cyst fairly consistent? Why would this cyst not have been diagnosed by one of the three tests (x ray, ultrasound and MRI)? Is it uncommon to find a ganglion cyst in the aforementioned location?

Hello,

The symptoms usually present in a similar fashion as slow-growing soft tissue lesion without pain or another discomfort.

The MRI should be able to differentiate it as there is altered echotexture of the fat versus cyst fluid content.

The location below clavicle is unusual for a ganglion cyst. Still, the human body is a mysterious box and many of the facts revealed in much diversity beyond normally predicted manners.

So I think your doc has done best for you and rely upon his practical experience ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
