Does A Knee Replacement Surgery Cause Severe Weakness?

I have knee replacement surgery on Wednesday April 26 at 1:15PM. The surgery will take about 1.5hrs. That is a long time to fast from midnight on Tuesday to Wednesday; it s about 13-16 hours approximately. I think that will make me weak as a kitten after the surgery. The hospital said the anesthesiologist may call Tuesday evening but may not. What should I do in case he does not call?

Hi,

Ten hours fasting is required before major surgery. You will receive IV fluids overnight so that you won’t feel fatigue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
