I am a 68 year old woman with MS and a history of facial shingles. I had been taking Acyclovir and Valcyclovir for over 10 years when my doctor told me to quit. Over the next 9 months I experienced several episodes of CMV which required short term doses of Valcyclovir. Last December I experienced a manic episode of behavior which landed me in a psychiatric hospital for 11 days. I am since back on the Valcyclovir, but wanted to know if there was any connection to the stop/start of Valcyclovir/Acyclovir and mania. I had been told by my psychologist that there was a connection in adolescents to Valcyclovir and Acyclovir.
