Does Utrogestan Help In Getting Pregnant?

Hi there I ve been prescribed ustrogestan 100mg 2 tablets a day . The reason is unregular period ,I ll explain what I mean for the last 4/5 months the days between the fish day period and and the next one around 40/37/43/36 . So I had check up and the doctor say to take ustrkgestan for 12 days to stimulate ovulation (BTW we are trying for a baby for the last 2 mounts)then when I finish the course I should have my period or be pregnant . If I have my period he want to check my hormones. My question is : Is the hormones will stimulate ovulation and help me to get pregnant ? Thanks

Hi,

Uterogestan is a hormone that is normally produced after the egg has ovulated and plays a role in the implantation of the zygote (the fertilized egg)if conception happens. So the real role of it is not to stimulate ovulation but to increase the chance of implantation of the zygote.

If you have problems with the ovulation it is clomifen that is used to stimulate ovulation.

On the other hand it is not recommended to get treatment for infertility if you have not tried for at least a year if you less then 35 years old or at least 6 months if you are over 35 years old. The reason for this is because 80% of women will spontaneously get pregnant during this time. For those that do not conceive within this time then drugs are tried and in your case probably you will benefit more from clomifen if ovulation is the problem.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
