Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom of 90 yrs of age is going thru some depression due to having lost a second child. I found Theanine in a CVS store to try and help her through the mourning process in an attempt to not use drugs. Do you know of any possible interactions with this She takes a statin, blood pressure meds, thyroid meds, Pilocarpin for Sjogrens(sp), and what she calls her memory pills. do you need more detailed info on the meds?
Theanine might decrease blood pressure. Taking theanine along with medications for high blood pressure might cause her blood pressure to go too low.
Meanwhile statins are usually used to lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce risk for illnesses related to atherosclerosis, no interactions with Theanine. What thyroid drugs she is using?
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
