Does Sudafed Cause Withdrawal Symptoms Of Depression And Suicidal Ideations?
After taking Pseudofed for about a week or maybe 5 days, and then going off of it, I ve found that I become incredibly depressed, even have suicidal thoughts. I don t see any specific research on the matter, but I m certain of the psycotic effect that pseudophedrin has on me. Can you point me to some research?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I can understand your problem.
Basically used as decongestant for the symptomatic relief of congestion in the nose, sinuses and the Eustachian tube (ear), Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) also has central nervous system stimulant action resulting in boost in energy, euphoria, and hence liable for addiction.
So, its withdrawal may be associated with depression (severe enough to have suicidal thoughts), apathy, exhaustion and flu like symptoms.
If you continue to have depression with suicidal thoughts, kindly consult a physician for proper assessment and treatment of the depression.
Hope this could explain the concerns you have been looking for.
Wishing you a very good health.
