Does Subutex Interact With Anesthetic Injections?

Hello, I have a question about anesthesia.. First of all, thank you for your time in reading this.. I won t type out my life history.. I will be short and to the point as I am sure your time is valuable.. :) I am currently on a step down dose of subutex ( no naloxone ) and will be scheduling surgery soon. My current dosage is 4mg per day. Possibly 2 mg by next month when I have surgery.. Will this medication affect my anesthesia in any way? I do plan on talking with my doctor but his office is closed until Tuesday.. I was just curious and wanted to ask so I will have the proper info and not worry about it. Thank you in advance for your assistance.. Robin

Hi,

The long term intake of Subutex does have effect over anesthesia aspects in terms of effectivity as well as post operative recovery.

I suggest in my clinic, that my all patients must stop such medications before 2-3 weeks of the surgery and should not re-start, till further orders.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
