Does Shelcal Lead To Kidney Stone Formation?

Hi ,
I had a sever back pain after delivery . Doctor suggested me to do a bone density scan. based on the report Doctor suggested me to take a Shelcal tablet twice a day and to continue for 1 year. But I heard it form one of my friend shelcal will leads to stone formation in Kidney. Is this true?

Hi ! Good evening. i am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Yes. It could cause renal stones though infrequent. Therefore, you should consume a lot liquids for flushing the kidneys so that renal stones do not develop. You have to have regular clinical check ups and follow up ultrasound every 3-6 months to rule out developing renal calculi,
