Does Seroquel Cause Constipation?

Hi history of gastroparesis due to amitriptyline. I took it for about 10 years. Came off it in march 2016 and my gastroparesis went away although I am diabetic. but now my doctor has given me seroquel 25mg am,25mg pm. I ve been using it for about a month but experiencing constipation. Should I be using this medication?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Seroquel [quetiapine fumarate] is either given for mania, depression and/or for psychotic reasons and although constipation do occur with its use but is a less common side effect.

2. So hopefully taking a fibre rich diet and drinking plenty of fluids will usually make symptoms go away, you should talk with your Doctor/ pharmacist who can recommend the best product to you.
