Does Salmulcolite Cause Loose Stools?

My child had cold last week....Dr prescriped salmulcolite....after that he had loose stools......had stop the medicine on friday his loose stools stop...he had fever on sunday had been to dr on monday...dr said to start salmulcolite again as he still has cold(noisy resp).......started salmulcolite and syp for fever again he is having loose stools......is it bcause of medicine.....and wht diet should b given.

Hi,

Usually this particular medication does not cause loose motion. But any syrup will contain sugary syrupy base which might cause osmotic diarrhea. Keep the kid well hydrated and make sure there is urine output at least once in 6 hours. You need to avoid fruit juices and high sugar containing food.
