Does Rigevidon Cause Stress?

Hi I take the rigevidon pill for almost a year now and I have recently began feeling sickly and going to the toilet more regularly, I also shake a lot. I took up smoking round 6 months ago and I am currently quite stressed. Do you think it s the pill or the stress making me feel unwell?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. There is a long list of side effects associated to the contraceptive Rigevidon, including depression and rise in blood pressure levels. Both are associated to anxiety and stress, so it is highly likely your assumption is right. Besides, smoking and contraceptive pills are a bad combination as smoking potentiates some of the contraceptives' side effects, such as blood clotting events.
I recommend you give up smoking and see your doctor to consider and discuss about switching to another form of contraception.

I wish you all the best.
