Does Ranexa Cause Shortness Of Breath And Chest Tightness?
I ve been on Ranexa for almost 2 years. I have 3 s tents and am type 2 diabetic. I ve passed my last 3 stress test. Last one done a year ago. Hear lately I have been experiencing shortness of breath and chest tightness about an hour after taking medications. I did the take one away and see if its a problem everything stayed the same until I took the Ranexa away and then the chest tightness and shortness of breath away. I ve been off of the renewal for 5 days now and know symptoms. But worried that my angina will return. I can t take nitrates. I can t even eat anything with nitrates or a migraine will come on. Is there another medication I can ask my doctor about. I liked the Ranexa because it helped lower my blood sugar and got my academic back to normal. But I can t deal with this new side affect. Thanks

No. Ranexa is useful in heart disease and that causes shortness of breath and chest tightness that is a sign of serious heart disease requiring immediate medical attention. These signs have to be evaluated and cannot be assumed to be due to Ranexa. Even if triggered by Ranexa they indicate there is an underlying problem that needs fixing. once it is fixed ranexa is likely to be beneficial and without the side effects.
