Does Prolactin cause low blood pressure and anemia?

am 32 years old female, not pregnant, not married my serum prolactin is level is 75 ng/ml, sodium 200 mEq/L, potassium 6.4 mEq/L lately am suffering from low blood pressure and my HGB is 10.6, i have mild microcytic hypochromic aneaemia is there a relationship between prolatin, sodium, potassium, low blood pressure and anemia?? who do i consult??

Hi,

1. As prolactin level is high (normal: less than 25 ng/ml in non pregnant), it means you are suffering from high prolactin level may be due to prolactinoma, and high levels of prolactin are associated with increased arterial pressure (reverse in your case) and because prolactinoma causes pan hypopituitarism thus can cause microcytic hypochromic anemia.

2. One should watch out for symptoms like discharge from nipples, absent or irregular periods, weight gain, lack of libido, acne, excessive body and facial hair growth, vaginal dryness.

3. You should consult either with a Medicine specialist or Endocrinologist for further work up and management, will ask for relevant blood examination like thyroid function test, pituitary MRI scan.
