Does Primolut N Cause Delayed Periods?

Hi Doctor, so on the 23rd of October I had my last period that lasted for 5 days. A week later I started bleeding again for 8 days. A week after that I started bleeding again and was put on Primolut N for 7 days (one pill a day) to stop the bleeding. I left contraceptive pills right before my period on the 23rd of October and only had unprotected sex. It’s been a week after stopping the Primolut now and I still haven’t gotten my period. Is this normal or should I take a pregnancy test?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for using "Ask a doctor" service to post your health concern.

I read it carefully and I understand your worry.

Primolut does change your hormonal levels. So for the next month you will have irregular periods. But this does not mean though that you cannot become pregnant or that your delayed periods are from Primolut. So I would say that consider doing a pregnancy test to rule out for sure possibilityof pregnancy.

I hope this is helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
