OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
The basic problem in the majority of cases of polycystic ovarian disease is failure of follicle maturation and hence ovulation. Induction in such cases is usually started with the lowest possible does, i.e., 50 mg. and accentuated gradually until a positive response is attained or until a maximum dose of 200 mg. is reached. The treatment is usually continued for six months at the most before resorting to alternative methods. Ovulation during the first cycle happens only in a quarter or less, hence patience is needed in the course of treatment and the results are often fruitful. Hope this helps.
