Does Norethindrone Affect Pregnancy Test Results?

Does Norethindrone affect pregnancy tests? I have taken three doses of the medication and given my PCOS my periods have never been regular but I would like to take one to make sure. I have been really bloated and uncomfortable as well as an increase in appetite. Will the Norethindrone give you a false positive?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

No Norethisterone does not affect pregnancy test result. Pregnancy test uses finding a Hormone HCG (human chorion gonadotrophin) in blood or urine. It has no relation with noresthisterone intake.
So your tests will not be false positive due to noresthisterone intake. However false positive tests are common in early pregnancy. To confirm your pregnancy you should repeat the test after a week.

Refer to your gynecologist
Hope this information helps
