Does Nitrofurantoin Cause Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands And Feet?

I was given Cipro for a UTI. For whatever reasons it did not completely stop the pain. I was then given Nitrofurantoin. After two days the UTI pain is getting much better but I have notice tingling/numbness in my hands and feet. Is this a possible side effect of the Nitrofurantoin?

In few persons, administration of antibiotics could cause vitamin deficiency, which may manifest as tingling sensation in hands and feet. It is mainly caused due to Vitamin B12 deficiency. Kindly take multivitamin supplementation orally and Vitamin B12 injections. Gradually, it should subside and you should be back to normal.
