Hi
Welcome to HCM
I appreciate your concern towards the safety of metoprolol.
Metoprolol is unlikely to cause the tingling sensation.

The common side effects associated with Metoprolol are slow heart rate, fatigue, cold and clammy skin, difficulty in breathing in patients with airway disease like bronchial asthma.

Verapamil is also unlikely to cause the above sensation.
The common side effects of Verapamil include constipation, slow heart rate, swelling around the ankles.

Apparently you might be having some sort of inflammation of the nerves.
Take some vitamin tablets like Vitamin B12 containing preparations. If no relief please visit your doctor for his opinion.
Regards
