Does Meizitang Diet Pills Cause Side Effects?

Why is it so unsafe to take Meizitang Diet Pills while breastfeeding? I just want to hear a clarified reason for it because everything just says Don t take while pregnant or breastfeeding ..I can understand while pregnant but I don t have a clarification for breastfeeding?

Hi,

It is from the principle safe better than sorry. It is unknown Meizitang (Sibutramine) accumulates in breast milk. There were no studies done on the topic. If it accumulates in breast milk and the baby drinks milk contaminated with sibutramine it might lead to health problems for the baby.
