Does Losartan Cause Pain In The Gums?

i incresed my blood pressure medicine from losartan -hctz 50-12.5 to now taking losartan-hctz 100-12.5 to control blood pressure i am male 57 years old and heart disease in my family. My teeth are very sensitive to cold and my gums are very sore and i am alergic to salfa Is my gums hurting have any thing to do with medication or my blood pressure

Hello,

You have the problem of pain in gums which seems to be the intake of Losartan as it can cause inflammation and ulceration of gingival mucosa. Visit the dentist once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. The dentist may perform oral prophylaxis or may prescribe antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medication. Go for quadrant scaling and root planning. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Do gargles after every meal to prevent bacterial accumulation. If there is a pain in gums anesthetic gel application can help by giving numbing effect. Give cold packs to his gums to relieve pain and discomfort.
