Does Famotidine Cause Loose Stools?

Hello, I m trying Famotidine (Equate s Brand) 20mg per Doctor s recommendation to deal with burning in my stomach due to acid. I ve taken a table this morning and have been dealing with loose stools today. It is possible I m coming down with a stomach virus as it is going around, but I just wanted to know how common diarrhea (side effect) is associated with taking Famotidine. I couldn t take Nexium (the purple pill) as I had flu like symptoms. Should I continue with another dose tomorrow or hold off.

As you stated that you took famotidine and developed loose stool . Yes this is the side effect of famotidine ( while few patient also develop constipation with famotidine).
This is not a cause of concern , so take 2nd dose also ,but if you develop diarrhea ,then stop taking the drug .
Since you are having stomach acid ,so you will get relief with two doses ,as one you have taken , and 2nd dose will cure it.
Avoidance of fried , greasy foods , sweets, pizza, burger also help stomach acid.
Still , no relief then take some antacid containing oxetacaine will provide instant relief.
