Does Estadiol Pill Cause Stomach Cancer?

My doctor wants to change my Estadiol 1mg tablet to a gel or patch. I tried the gel and don t like the mess. I don t think I would like something stuck to my skin 24/7. She will not prescribe my pill form anymore because she has read about some kind of stomach cancer related to taking orally. I can not find anything about this on the Internet. Also the pill cost approx $5.00 per month. The gel is $90.00 per month. I don t understand. I guess I will have to find a new doc. Can you tell if she is right about the pill?

Welcome to health care magic.
The estrogen hormonal supplement either in form of oral/skin patch are known to cause some medical problems like increased rates of cardiovascular events or cerebrovascular events and somewhat increased rates of cancer specially breast cancer but per se taking the supplement orally or skin patch doesn't make a difference in the incidence of djverse effects. There is no evidence up to now as to suggest increased incidence of gastric cancer with estrogen tablet form.
