Does Delzicol cause rashes on the legs?

Absolutely, yes. Bottom line...i have had ulcerative colitis for years...was on asacol...now on delzicol...you know same family, etc. I have a rash on my legs and chest...could that be from delzicol and running in the sun??? Plus my crit is elevated...you know these meds cause kidney damage. I am going to UVA next week to see a new gi doc since my kidneys are getting bad. I just need your advice. My gi doc is very conservative but well qualified, I feel. I am a social worker who worker in the ICUs for 38 years, by the way. Thank you, Dr. Rynee. susan early

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction to Delzicol.
Some suggestions about treatment are:
-use antihistamine medication
-use calmine lotion for local relief
You should reconsider this medication with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Yes, I couldn t get my delzicol down one day this week and they fell on some dirty dishes, so I didn t take them that day. I haven t taken them for 4 days and everything seems to be okay. I am probably in remission because I have taken delzicol for 3 years. What do you think of abruptly stopping delzicol?

I have Ulcerative Colitis since 1999. I am on Delzicol for life probably and now taking Prednisone for a flare and it seems to be getting better. My question, is it safe to take herbal meds such as Boswellia with (which I have read is excellent in treatment of UC) and also is it safe to take the herb med Olive Leaf with Delzicol and Prednisone? Also, is there a relatively safe adult beverage that is the least invasive with UC. Have several big social functions coming up and would love to be able to have some wine or if there is something least difficult on the gut? If not, I ll continue as I am now. Tee-totaler : ) Thank you so much!!
