Crestor contains
rosuvastatin, which belongs to a a group of drugs called "statins" or HMG CoA reductase inhibitor. It is used to lower
cholesterol and triglycerides in blood, which are lipids that are known to promote
atherosclerosis.
Common side effects include:
(a) Body aches or pain, particularly
muscle pain,
(b) Respiratory symptoms like congestion, dry cough, runny nose or sore throat
(c) Other effects like headache, hoarseness of voice, swollen glands in the neck, difficulty in swallowing.
Tinnitus is not a known side effect caused due to intake of this medication. It might be due to:
(a) hearing loss
(b) trauma to the ear such as loud noise
(c) cochlear damage
