Hi,
It seems to be clonazepam induced side effect. Amitriptyline is a
tricyclic antidepressant commonly prescribed to treat symptoms of depression. Its common side effects include drowsiness, weight gain, dry mouth, increased heart beats, blurring of the vision,
postural hypotension and constipation. It is not known to cause memory loss.
Clonazepam is a long acting
benzodiazepine commonly prescribed for the treatment of anxiety, epilepsy and other conditions. Its common side effects include drowsiness,
muscle weakness, loss of balance, tolerance, dependence and
anterograde amnesia (loss of new memory). I advise you to consult your treating doctor to prescribe an effective but a safer alternative for clonazepam after it is gradually stopped.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
