Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For high blood pressure, the doctor prescribed Nicardia Retard(20) to my wife.It did not have much effect on her blood pressure but she was constipated badly and does not want to take Nicardia any more. The doctor changed the medicine to Cilacar (10). Will it help or will have the same effect that is constipation? My wife is 70 years of age.
- Cilacar and nicardia are from the same class of drugs but Cilacar is known to be stronger in terms of BP control - Cilacar is not known to cause constipation - I suggest that your wife increases fiber in her diet and tries a laxative temporarily in case she is experiencing constipation
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
