Does Baby Aspirin Help In Blood Thinning?

I was in hospital last week because of dizziness & passed out. I have A-Fib as well & I am an insulin dependent diabetic. Upon leaving hospital for 4 days I was put on Cartia XT 120mg 1X day & Eliquis 5mg 2X day. I had severe nose bleeds 2X within 6 hours. I stopped the Eliquis after 4 days. My Doctor put me on 1 baby asprin day & I am still taking the Cartia XT which is helping my blood pressure. Will the baby asprin help work as a blood thinner & help prevent strokes ? thx for your info, Paul

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Paul,
Thanks for choosing HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Baby aspirin contains 81mg of aspirin.
Regular dose of aspirin with 325mg is an effective drug for the prevention of clots. But with dose of aspirin therapy, there is an increased tendency for bleeding.
Hence, baby aspirin contains about a quarter of the dose in an adult aspirin pill, which seems to be effective in preventing heart attack and stroke, with minimal side effects like bleeding.
Baby aspirin may considered to be the best aspirin dose for heart health.
Kindly follow the instructions given by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as suggested.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
