Hello. Thank you for writing to us

You seem to have inflammatory acne. Inflammatory acne is red, painful, pustular Or nodular.
Azithromycin is an oral antiacne antibacterial that is usually given in a pulse dose i.e 3 consecutive days every week for 4- 12 weeks, depending on the severity of acne and response to treatment.
Oral antibiotics are quite useful for Inflammatory acne and are usually combined with topical antiacne preparations for moderate to severe grade of inflammatory acne.
Response is usually evident after 2-4 weeks of continuous treatment.
Oral antibiotics are neither a substitute nor an alternative to topical treatment rather they are given together with topical antiacne treatment for moderate to sever grade of inflammatory acne.
Common side effects include abdominal pain, loose stools in a few individuals.
Dryness of face Or oral mucosa is not a side effect of Oral azithromycin. Dryness on face could be due to other topical antiacne medications that you may be using.
