Does Atenolol Overdose Cause Any Adverse Side Effects?

Hi there! I am on 50mg of atenolol 2 tablets daily. I am pretty sure I took 2 tablets late morning and when I just went upstairs I was thinking I didn t take them and took 2 more. I am worried because I can t remember if I definately took them late morning. I am monitoring my blood pressure and pulse and all is normal so far. What should I do or is there anything I can do from home?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Atenolol is cardioselective beta blocker drug. It has side effects if taken regularly or over dosage.
In your case, you have doubled the dose bcoz you thought you haven't taken the drug. Don't worry it will not produce overdosages. Drink more fluid and monitor blood pressure. Nothing to worry much.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Divyesh Sondarva
