Does Amlopres AT 25 Have Any Side Effects?

I had been taking Nebicard 5 since 2009 for my High BP. But recently found out that after taking even two tablets in a day my pressure was not dropping down. Doctor has now prescribed Amlopres AT 25. Please advise if there are any side effects. Is dizziness and weakness a result of high blood pressure.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Dizziness and weakness can be a symptom of high blood pressure, the higher the values the more likely.
As for the treatment, Amlopress AT contains two drugs inside, atenolol and amlodipine. Atenolol belongs to the same group and has similar possible side effects to Nebicard which you had already been taking. As for the new addition, the amlodipine, as all medications it can have side effects. Most common is swelling of the ankles and feet, happens in about 10% of patients. Other possible side effects may be redness in the face, trouble breathing, dizziness etc but are rare.
