Yes you are right.
Amlodipine causes edema of foot due to retention of water. This side effect is harmless and easily manageable. Uncontrolled
high blood pressure can cause
brain hemorrhage. Your husband has high BP since a long time.
Advice
1. Restart amlodipine as suggested by your doctor
2. Add
hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg daily per oral after meal. It will decrease leg swelling
3. Do not stop any medicine without your doctor’s suggestion
4. Take
second opinion with a cardiologist for review of treatment
5. Keep your leg elevated by keeping 2 pillows under your leg when you are lying down
6. Stay active and focus on stretching and moving the legs and hands
7. Stand up or move around at least once every hour
8. Consume less salt preferably less than 2 gram in a day

13. Reduce metal stress because stress activates sympathetic system and increases BP
14. Measure BP regularly and be in touch with your doctor
