Hi and welcome to HCM. Hypertension and diabetes both are commonly occurring in younger age group now. If your doctor already has diagnosed with hypertension then its better to take anti hypertensive medications. Both amlodepine and ramipril are safe and have very minimal side effects. Ramipril is usually prescribed for hypertensives who are also diabetic. Life style modifications are defently adviced for hypertensives like walking for at least 40 minutes, restriction of salt in food, avoiding high fat food, meditation. If u were in prehypertensive stage u could have tried these life style modifications, but i think your doctor has already diagnosed you as hypertensive. Both medications and good life style habits are essential to control high BP. Regards
