thank you for making yourself available. I am flying to China next week. The flight is 15 hours long. I want to sleep 8-10 of those hours to help with jet lag. I have heard that ambient is an excellent sleep aid but I don t have a prescription. I recently moved to this area and have an appointment with a new doctor after I return (since I am a new patient this is the earliest appointment I could get). Do you have any suggestions on how I might be able to get a small small prescription of 2 tablets - one for each way?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You cannot get Ambien other than by prescription from a licensed physician. You could make phone calls to other physician offices to see if anyone has a sooner appointment. Places such as The Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic advertise same day appointments so if you have either of those large healthcare systems in your area you may get a visit with a physician who can prescribe the drug. You could also consider OTC options that do not need prescription that could function to help you sleep well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
