Does Adderall Contain Sulfonamide?

Hello. I have been wondering since my last visit to my clinic, if Adderall has any sulfa in it? I was recommended to start taking it but I haven t been able to find a single answer to my question. I am highly allergic to Sulfa, considering my airways were totally closed off the last time I had it, and I had a large, hot, red burning rash from a type of antibiotic I took at one point when I was younger, and was sent to the hospital. I just want to make sure it is safe before I decide to make any decisions and avoid another hospital visit. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for asking.

It's good to be vigilant. Your prescribed drug Adderall does not contain sulfa or related substance. It is combination of amphetamine / dextroamphetamine.
However Adderall also can cause allergic reactions but depends upon immune response of individual.
My advice is you should start it under supervision of treating physician.

Regards
Dr. Hiren
